The day is here! You finally get to take possession and move into your new home. You’re excited and relieved that the home buying process is over. After you’re done unpacking, you’ll be eager to start planning a house warming party to show off your new home to your friends and family. This has been one of the biggest decisions of your life and everything is going perfectly.
But aren’t you forgetting something?
Oh yeah…all those warranty dates and forms you need to stay on top of! Don’t worry, Tarion has you covered. We understand that life gets hectic and you already have a ton of stuff you have to remember. That’s why we created MyHome, an online tool that has everything you need to manage your warranty in one place.
- Create a warranty Form
Your MyHome account has the forms that apply to the stage of warranty you are currently in and lets you report warranty claim items to Tarion.
- Attach photos and supporting documents to your form
You can upload documents that help explain your warranty claim, like photos, your purchase agreement and inspector reports. We know a photo speaks 1000 words, but make sure you add a description before you upload the photo. Also, make sure documents are uploaded in an acceptable format.
- Edit or delete an item on your warranty form
You can change or delete items on your form before you submit it to Tarion.
- Add an item to your warranty form
You can add to your form as you notice more warranty claim items in your home.
- Submit your warranty form
MyHome will tell you the deadline for you to submit the form you’ve created. Review your form carefully because you won’t be able to change it after you submit it. Once submitted, you will see a confirmation page and receive a confirmation email.
- Submit documents to Tarion
Submit documents, updates on warranty claims, or requests for Tarion’s assistance quickly and easily through your account.
- Schedule a Tarion inspection
MyHome will tell you the deadline to request a Tarion inspection if your builder does not resolve the items on your form. MyHome also lets you book the inspection easily and securely. When the time period comes when you can schedule an inspection, a link magically appears on your screen… well maybe not ‘magically’, but automatically appears besides your warranty form.

How to register for MyHome
All you need to register is your home enrolment number and date of possession. This information can be found on the Certificate of Completion and Possession that your builder provided to you on your closing date. Visit Tarion.com to register for MyHome and follow the steps. (If you bought a resale home, Tarion may need you to provide more information before you can register.)
MyHome should be your closest friend when it comes to managing your warranty. Sure, you have your phone, calendar and reminders set to notify you of deadlines, but they can’t help you submit the forms when you should. MyHome and MyHome App can!
So, now that you have all your important warranty dates covered, it’s time to plan that house warming party! Get the snacks ready and make some room for some great (and not so great) house warming gifts.
